Chapter 21, titled Kiss and Cry (キスアンドクライ, Kisu ando kurai), is the second chapter in Volume 6.

Synopsis

After finishing her performance, Inori, along with coach Tsukasa, approaches the Kiss and Cry. Many people remark on how young Tsukasa is, or they recognize him from his All-Japan's appearance (Tsukasa originally thought Hitomi was going to be in the Kiss and Cry).

Inori remarks how she used to have a dream of being in the Kiss and Cry, but also praying to god to make that dream stop, as she didn't want to be sad in the morning. Tsukasa answers by reassuring her that she won't have to pray anymore.

Her score is then announced, that being a 81.20, placing her at Number 1. Other skaters sadly remark on their loss, or are surprised by the fact Inori only started skating the year prior. They cry because they missed the podium, or because they missed nationals by a whisker, or are just passive about getting a somewhat decent finish. Some girls are still happy, even after the loss.

Yuna is happy her placemnt got better, and that she got a medal. But deep down, she truly would have wanted the gold. Coach Shinichiro remarks how it's not over, that he'll invest on Yuna and come marching in proud at nationals.

Location shift, to what looks like a barbecue restaurant with Rintaro Chiwa, Atsushi Wani and Shoya Kijita, all coaches for the other 4 girls who qualified for nationals. As they joke, Tsukasa remarks how small the skating world is. Suddendly, Coach Rintaro tells them that for Nationals, they will need a Triple Lutz mastered.

As Tsukasa wonders if Inori will be able to handle it, and coach Rintaro starts pressing Tsukasa for answers on how he shaped up Inori to such a level in such a short time, Coach Shinichiro joins the group. Tsukasa is stressed because he is sitting next to the Head Coaches, meanwhile, the coaches banter and talk about the successes of Shinichiro. They also comment on Hikaru's talent, and other stuff. Tsukasa then realizes that nobody else knows that Hikaru is coached by Jun and not Coach Shinichiro.

After the dinner, Coach Shinichiro comments on Tsukasa's choices at the competion and with Inori in general, then he thanks Tsukasa for staying silent on the Jun matter, and invites him over to his house.

Back at Shinichiro's home, he meets his Wife Eva F. Rodriguez, and, as Shinichiro tries to explain his situation with Hikaru, Jun appears, warning him about not telling much, as the chapter ends.

When i was little, I'd have these dreams were i was sitting here. To me, being here is part of what being a skater is... so i kept praying to god not to have that dream any longer. Because when I'd wake up, I'd get all sad...

And, Like, Even if nobody called me a genius... I think it'd be nice... if someone at school or whatever just knew... how i was staking everything on this.

When everybody quit all at once... i was thinking about quitting too. But you didn't quit Yuna. The more triplets you landed, the more amazing it was to me... so i worked hard... and i got to liking skating again. So... seeing you try... like so hard, and land the triple Lutz-Triple Loop, I just wish you could have won gold too...
